Shanghai filmfest to host ‘Butterfly Stroke’

Iranian award-winning movie ‘Butterfly Stroke’ is to be screened at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in China.

Starring Javad Ezzati, the film will be displayed at the Belt and Road Film Week section of the event.

‘Butterfly Stroke’ is about a woman named Parvaneh, who works in a swimming pool, not knowing that she is being filmed.

Later, when the recorded footage goes viral on social media platforms, her husband kills her and is sent behind the bars.

Then, her brother-in-law seeks to take revenge on the person who has shot and released the video.

The film was premiered at the 38th Fajr Film Festival in Iran, where it received 15 nominations and won seven awards.

Launched in 1993, the SIFF is considered by many to be the second biggest film festival in Asia.

The 2021 edition of the event is slated for June 11-20.
